Pokemon but for Flowers

Even in desolate places plant life is all around

As I mentioned before, for kids it’s all about the journey. Not the destination. Recently with so many closures it’s been hard to find places where we can hike and be completely self sufficient and away from people. We found a place in a pretty desolate part of Oregon called Spring Basin Wilderness. As I looked at the hike profile I wondered what I could possible do to keep them entertained while ‘walking forever’. Someone recommended an app called Seek and it’s awesome. Seriously, check it out! It’s like playing Pokemon but you find flowers or birds. In the most desolate space we still found over 20 plant types and the kids love finding new plants and figuring out what they are. So our journey through dusty, hot landscapes was finding random plant life which exists everywhere.

Since playing with the app I’ve noticed my kids are even more curious about plants. They probably got tired of the “I don’t know what that flower is but it’s cool” answer and now the app will tell us. As well as how many people around us have found it and other fun facts.
